WeTeach_CS (formerly, Teach CS) is a multifaceted initiative designed to increase the number of certified computer science teachers in Texas and to help CS teachers by providing workshops and resources. Currently we are providing a face-to-face course designed to improve your competencies for the 141 TExES Computer Science 8-12 Certification Exam and an incentive program for teachers to take the exam and obtain their Computer Science 8-12 certification. An online version of our exam preparation course is slated for release in Summer 2016.

WeTeach_CS Face-to-Face Training

Eligible Attendees
Texas teachers interested in becoming certified to teach Grades 8-12 Computer Science are eligible to attend. Attendees should have at least some prior experience in coding or programming to maximize their participation in this workshop.
Description
WeTeach_CS will provide an overview of the educator competencies required of all teachers to become certified in Grades 8-12 Computer Science. This certification is necessary to teach courses such as Computer Science I, II or III, Fundamentals of Computer Science, or AP Computer Science A. Course instructors will address several competencies in depth and link attendees to additional resources that will help to prepare them to challenge the CS certification test. Attendees should bring their own laptop to the workshop.

This program provides an opportunity for Texas educators to apply for a one-time stipend through The University of Texas at Austin, Center for STEM Education for successfully attaining their 8-12 Computer Science Teacher Certification.
