Description:

The TRC will host a one-day PDA on Mathematics Knowledge for Teaching Algebra. This seminar will prepare TRC Mathematics Project Directors to assess teachers knowledge using the Survey of Elementary Teachers of Mathematics Study: Algebra Study. This instrument was developed by researchers at the Learning Mathematics for Teaching (LMT) project at the University of Michigan. Despite the use of “elementary” title this assessment is designed to test algebraic concepts taught through 8th and 9th grade.

The seminar will prepare the Collaboratives to comply with the requirement of the MSP grant. The assessments are developed under the strictest statistical guidelines and fit within the MSP GPRA requirements. Projects will assess teachers before they begin the program and then assess with the post-test at the end of the program.
