Meeting Title: Extremes

Time: February 19 (10 AM - Noon Special Onsite Tours) (Noon to 8:15 PM)
February 20 (8:30 AM-9:00 PM) Banquet 6:00 PM-9:00 PM
February 21 (8:30 AM- 3:00 PM)

Location: The University of Texas J. J. Pickle Research Campus, located in the new Research Office Complex (ROC0, Building 196.  The ROC building houses the Institute for Geophysics, the Bureau of Economic Geology, and the Texas Advanced Computation Center.  It is located in the northeast quadrant of the Pickle Research Campus.  Hotel information, maps and directions to the Pickle Research Campus may be accessed from:

Registration Cost: The grant covers registration costs. Breakfasts, lunches and dinner will be provided.  Each collaborative is responsible for transportation and hotel expenses.

Eligible Attendees: Minority or minority-serving teachers who would like to teach the new Earth Space Science capstone course.

Description: Extremes
This PDA will cover a variety of topics including the KT Calamity, extreme environments in the deep sea, Polar Regions and tsunamis. We will have a panel of scientists presenting their research and they will be viewing the teacher portfolio displays. Friday evening we will have a celebratory banquet. Please make sure you bring your dancing shoes!


Certificates of Participation Certificates stating Continuing Professional Education hours (CPE credits) earned will be sent electronically after the participant has completed the online course evaluation. Participants should receive the certificate two to three weeks after the PDA. Any questions about certificates should be directed toward the contact person listed on this page.

Parking: There is free visitor parking at the Pickle Research Center.
