Eligible Attendees: Project Directors and/or ITMs from Current Mathematics Collaboratives from the Grant Year 2007-2008 may register for this Professional Development Academy.
Description: Nichole Schectman and Teresa Lara Meloy from the Center for Technology and Learning: SRI International will present this PDA. This workshop will help participants understand best practices in developing valid, evidence-based research instruments for assessing content knowledge as part of a larger intervention or evaluation study. Topics include: the various types of validity, methods for evidentiary validity arguments, overview of relevant psychometric methods, practicalities, and resource tradeoffs of validation. There will be a series of presentations and discussions around actual assessments. Participants will receive a sourcebook of assessment best practices, practical resources, and references. Participants who bring their own assessment needs will leave with a work plan for developing and validating their instruments.
