Meeting Title: Early Childhood Math/Science Workshop

Dates: February 5-7, 2009

Time: Arrive before 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 5. Expect a full day of activities on Friday. Depart on Saturday, February 7, after 3:00 PM. Plan to be at the Ranch for the entire workshop. All meals--Thursday evening thru Saturday noon--will be provided, and the PDA will end with a closing ceremony at 3:00 PM Saturday.

Invoice: If you need an invoice for your business office, download the Word document and customize as required. Remember, wait for confirmation of your selection to participate before sending a registration fee.

Eligible Attendees: Participants will work as teams of four from a collaborative area. Ideal teams will consist of one person with expertise in each of the following areas: one science content person, one math content person, one early childhood specialist, one practicing pre-kindergarten teacher.

Description Bring a team to explore topics such as Motion, Alike & Different, Change, and How Things are Made and Used as content areas to model how you can bring science, math, and literacy together as you help young children learn. The workshop will be filled with hands-on activities and ideas for observing and assessing children that teachers can use immediately. The Texas Early Learning Standards will be used as a framework for providing curriculum and assessment strategies to support learning in the areas of mathematics, science, and literacy.

Parking: There is free parking at Flat Creek Ranch.

Registration: ONE PERSON should REGISTER online FOR THE TEAM and should submit a competed application form. (See Link to Application Form.) Total cost for registration and accommodations is $100 per person per day, or $800 for a team of four for the two and a half day PDA. Please email the application to [email protected]. You will be notified by December 19 if your team has been selected to participate, and only then are you to mail the registration fee.
