Description

Young Mathematicians At Work series is a set of materials developed after years of research on children's strategies and the ways they construct knowledge. Based on the work of the Freudenthal Institute in the Netherlands, researchers Fosnot and Dolk share what they have learned after many years of intensive classroom experiences in a variety of environments to create materials to support teachers and students. Pam Harris, an experienced mathematics consultant and expert in the use and dissemination of these materials will present this work. The materials are designed for immediate "turn around" for teacher professional development. Materials include: Young Mathematicians at Work: Constructing Multiplication and Division; Working with the Ratio Table Grades 5-8 Resource Package; The Big Dinner, Groceries, Stamps, and Measuring Strips; Minilessons for Early Multiplication and Division and 7 accompanying classroom posters.
