Description

The English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) describe the instruction that districts must provide for English language learners related to both content area knowledge and academic language.  This training will inform you of the requirements within the four sections of the ELPS, and also teach you a user-friendly process for meeting those requirements through a variety of hands-on activities.

The training will be presented by John Seidlitz, author of Navigating the ELPS: Using the New Standards to Improve Instruction for English Learners.  He also co-developed the 7 Steps to Developing a Language-Rich Interactive ClassroomTM methodology. Mr Seidlitz has been a member of the SIOP National faculty and guest lecturer for the LEP-SSI Initiative for the State of Texas as well as many other regional and national language development conferences.
