Eligible Attendees

Project Directors and Instructional Team Members for the Texas Regional Science Collaboratives. Maximum registration is 30 participants. Collaboratives are encouraged to send middle and high school science teachers, instructional technology specialists, or curriculum coordinators who could turn this training around to TRC teachers if the Project Director is unavailable.

Description

There is growing evidence that online games are an effective way to promote inquiry learning and to expose students to higher-level thinking.  Games can provide a context for applying concepts that may otherwise seem irrelevant to students.  At the same time, games address technology integration into the science classroom.  Even more unique is the role games can play in promoting an awareness of STEM careers.  In this workshop, speakers will address the educational aspects of on-line science games that are aligned with the Science Standards and participants will play a selection of science games to have personal experiences with the world of games.
