The TRC meeting was fantastic and I have become a better teacher because of the collaborative. I have learned more from it in the last 5 years on how to improve my teaching than all of the other 20 years of my teaching career.

As the school year draws to a close, I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that my participation in the Collaborative has not only helped me grow as an adult learner, but has also tremendously impacted the three elementary schools I serve as an Instructional Coach in Science (Blanton,Titche and Pleasant Grove Elementary Schools-DISD). Teachers and students have greatly benefited from my expertise and all the resources that through the Collaborative I have had the opportunity to utilize on the campuses. Teacher capacity has been built and more than ever science is now being taught rigorously at the elementary level which will ultimately yield great dividends in the middle and high school years for the students I serve.
During the school year, I was one of two teachers who received their National Board Certification and the only one in the entire Dallas ISD who holds that Certification in the area of Science (Early Adolescent Science). I credit this honor and excellence to the Collaborative and all that I have learned from attending the Saturday meetings, as well as the powerful ways I have had the opportunity to collaborate with other science educators across the state.
I now serve my District as a mentor and a candidate support for about 40 teachers currently pursuing their National Board Certification.

As a member of the TRC, I am very glad to share with you very interesting good news. I have been selected by the US Department of Energy to serve as an Albert Einstein fellow at Capitol Hill during the term 2009-2010. I share with you this honor and I want to let you know that every day of my term in D.C., I will keep the TRC in my mind.
I am sure that all my experiences with the TRC helped me in the selection process and now, I share with you my compromise and dedication in bringing the perspective of a Texas science teacher to the position in Capitol Hill.
Your support and encouragement throughout these years has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation, especially in those few situations when "life is not what you want, but what it is." Now the time has come to implement the next step in my career: to provide feed back at the national level, to promote urgently needed school reform.
