Region 14 Collaborative / Abilene

Mission

The Region 14 Math Collaborative is committed to providing math teachers with the highest level of excelence in sustained professional development designed to enhance their leadership capacity and enable them to engage ALL students in interesting relevant, experiential, and meaningful math learning experiences. This includes a complete awareness of the current mathematics curricula, best practices for helping all students learn and the best use of technology to facilitate this process.

Accomplishments

Since the start of the Region 14 Math Collaborative, on the average approximately 400-550 teachers have participated in training provided by the grant and these teachers have impacted over 12,000 students each year. About 150 of the teachers who participate in the grant have been able to attend the Conference of the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching, CAMT, where in the past they would not have been able to. By attending this state math conference it has helped teachers to broaden their perspective of teaching strategies and materials. The collaborative has provided additional materials in the classroom which is an accomplishment due to the current economy and school finance issues that school districts face today. Region 14 ESC Math Collaborative looks forward to having the same or better results this year.
