Region 19 Collaborative/El Paso

Mission

Improve the academic achievement of students in mathematics by providing high quality professional learning opportunities that are founded on scientifically based research and aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). We support the education of mathematics teachers and believe this is a career-long process.

Accomplishments

ESC-Region 19 has successfully provided over 16,000 hours of professional learning opportunities to over 1300 teachers from the El Paso and Hudspeth counties.  Together with all our partners from various districts, we provided the mathematics community with opportunities to extend mathematical content as well as pedegagical knowledge.  Our team of 15 Instructional Team Members (ITM's) worked diligently to provide quality professional learning opportunities that support the work of the districts and their students. Teachers who attended our sessions understand the importance of technology, multiple representations, strategies for diverse learners, and how to help students make mathematical connections.

What teachers say about our sessions:

“The highlight of the presentation were the engaging activities that will guide students from concrete to abstract.”

“…learning about the 5E’s.  I now have a tool to help me write lesson plans.”

“Very impressive we need more!!”
