Our Lady of the Lake University/ San Antonio
Mission
The goal of the Our Lady of the Lake University Mathematics Regional Collaborative is help K-12 classroom teachers and other education professionals to improve their mathematics content knowledge and to increase their repertoire of teaching strategies shown to help students understand mathematics concepts.
Accomplishments
During the 2006-2007 grant year, over 350 individuals, including classroom teachers, school administrators, math specialists, paraprofessionals, and upper division education students participated one or more math workshops. Participants hailed from 85 public and private schools representing 29 school districts and 5 universities. These participants clocked more 7000 professional development hours. All participants received mathematics resources to use in their classrooms with teachers reporting improved student understanding through their use.
During the 2007-2008 grant year we have offered twenty workshops for over 6000 professional development hours earned by 269 participants, for an average of over 22 hours per participant. Once again participants, upon completion of a workshop, received mathematics resources, including manipulatives, teacher resource books, classroom resources, and math trade books of their choosing, to use in their classrooms.
