Region 19 Collaborative / El Paso

Mission

The El Paso Science Network is a learning community of science educators that works to increase student achievement and interest in science by providing sustained and quality teacher professional development focused on collaboration and reflective teaching practices. Our collaborative efforts support K-16 science educators in developing an understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) that supports the implementation of that understanding in the classroom.

Accomplishments

This year the EPSciNet has recruited and trained 57 new Science Teacher Mentors in the "Content and Classroom" and "Field and PC" components of the GLOBE Program. Their training will continue with the "Waste in Place Curriculum" and "Project Learning Tree." Our mentors will each be serving a minimum of the five Cadre Member Teachers. Their structured mentoring activities may include modeling lessons, co-teaching and planning, data analysis, reflective conversations, and book studies.
