Region 5 Collaborative / Beaumont

Mission

The primary goal of the Region 5 Education Service Center Science Collaborative is to provide high level professional development opportunities for all science teachers.  This will be don by providing research based activities which are supported by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science.  The goals of our program are to provide valuable professional development opportunities to science teachers that will improve content knowledge and develop strong teaching skills.

Accomplishments

In 2008-2009 the Region 5 Science Collaborative provided over 6500 hours of professional development for participating Science Teacher Mentors and Cadre Members in the Region 5 area.  Forty-nine K-12 teachers committed to receive 105 professional development hours with 161 Cadre members also being trained in both content and best-practices.
